Application Documents

In order for the Admissions Department to consider your application, several items are required to activate your application.

STEP 1:  Documents required for Initial Application Processing:

In order to process your application for admission, please find below a list of required documents that must be submitted to the Admissions Office.

  • Completed application form with an application fee of GY$15000.00 for the local applicant and US$100.00 for international applicants (non-refundable).
  • Copy of transcripts from all previous institutions attended
  • Personal current resume/CV (with a list of achievements or awards if any)
  • Eight (8) passport size photographs
  • Two (2) recent Letters of Recommendation
  • Copy of driver’s license and/or government-issued identification card
  • An official Interview will be scheduled after the initial application processing
  • Personal essay (why medicine? Why GMU? )

STEP 2:  Documents Required Upon Acceptance:

  • Original transcripts requested/ Student Copy can be used until the original is submitted.
  • Birth certificate
  • Copy of driver’s license and/or government-issued identification
  • Original and notarized background check report; must be dated within 60 days before application (from the local police department with official letterhead or notarized)
  • Completed and signed privacy form
  • Any additional documents requested
  • A non-refundable $1000.00 USD seat deposit is due upon acceptance to secure your seat and for the registrar’s department to schedule your classes for the applied semester. The seat deposit paid is applied to your first semester’s tuition fee.

SUPPLEMENT MATERIALS

All applicants may submit supplementary materials to enhance their admission files. Additional documents might be required for international applicants.

  1. Evidence of English proficiency – for students whose first language is not English:

English is the medium of instruction for all classes at Rajiv Gandhi University of Science and Technology. For applicants whose native language is English, no additional proof of English proficiency is required. For applicants whose first language is not English, in addition to meeting or exceeding all of the admission criteria they must demonstrate English proficiency by providing official minimum scores on one of the following:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) minimum scores

  • 550 on the paper-based test
  • 85 on the Internet-based test with a minimum score of 20 on each section
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum score of at least 6.5
  • American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), “high advanced” score on the writing proficiency portion of the test.
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) minimum score of at least 500 on the critical reading portion.

Student applicants who meet the minimum required composite score but do not meet the minimum section scores will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis for possible exemption.  Applicants who meet or exceed all of the admission requirements, but do not demonstrate English proficiency through minimum TOEFL, IELTS, ACTFL or SAT scores, may be admitted provisionally and would be required to take an English proficiency test. For applicants whose transcripts show extensive study in institutions in which English is the language of instruction, no additional proof of English proficiency is required for admission evaluation, but applicants may be asked to take an English proficiency test upon enrolment.

  1. Personal Essay / Statement of purpose:

The statement should be no more than 500 words in length and should give an overview of the applicant’s academic and personal experience, describing preparation for and commitment to further study at GMU, as well as educational and professional goals and aspirations.

  1. Character certificate / Background Check Report:

 These documents are used to verify the correct spelling of names, correct birth dates, and other information vital to student registration.  The certificate must be original and must be dated within 60 days before application (from the local police department with official letterhead or notarized).
